Section 37 Fuel System Back to
home page NOTE When installing fluid fittings in this section note the clocking direction that the fluid fitting is aimed). Reference both the isometric view on Page 37-1 and the figure relevant to the step being completed. Step 1: Going to use Andair fuel valve so will put pictures in later when we figure out how to mount it. Step 1a: Will put steps in for installation of Andair valve Step 3: Attach the AN837-6D 45 degree Elbow Fitting, AN SPACER, 6D Nut to the F-1001 Firewall Bulkhead Assembly as shown in the detail view in Figure 2. Note the clocking (up and down)
Back of firewall Page 37-3 Steps will be covered in Andair installation. It looks like the fuel lines can be bent at this time to complete the routing to the tank with the exception of the attachment at the valve. I will leave enough excess tube to be fitted at the valve at a later time. Need to know the mounting of the valve with consideration to stem length Valve support bracket and how it will fit through the aero craft console. Step 1: Built a bracket using center access cover as template to position valve in location it will be installed through the tunnel access cover, This should position valve in proper location and also give access to fabricating fuel lines.
Step 4: I used the pictures on Deems Davis's website for the bending the left and right line attachment to the valve. They are at this link Step 5: As the fuel lone exits the tunnel, slide on a grommet, two snap bushings and another grommet, as shown in Figure 5. Feed the fuel line out the hole in the F-10004K-L Center Section Side Plate and F-1069 Fwd Side Skins Step 6: Install adel clamps that attach each fuel line to the F-1048-L and-R Forward Fuselage Ribs (See Figure 3). Insert the grommets into the fwd fuselage ribs and the F-1069 Fwd Side Skins. Insert the snap bushings into the F-1084A-L and-R Systems Brackets. Install the F-1048B Systems Bracket Clips to the systems brackets. See Figure 5.
Step 8: Bend each Fuel Line 90 degrees aft, approximately 2 1/2 inches from the side of the fuselage.. See Figure 4. Page 37-4 Note: This page depicts the installation of the fuel injected system for a Lycoming between fuel valve and the fire wall. The ES AIRFLOW PUMP & FILTER are not included in the kit but can be purchased through Van's Accessory Catalog. If using a carbureted engine skip to page 37-5. Step1: Make four Fuel F1048E Fuel Cradle Pads out of rubber channel as shown in Figure 1. Step 2: Place the F-1048E Fuel Cradle Pads over the flanges of both F-1048D Fuel Filter Brackets. See Figure 2. Step 2: Temporarily center the cylindrical portion of the AS AIRFLOW PUMP and ES AIRFLOW FILTER on their respective F-1048D Fuel Filter Brackets. Create a fuel line from ATO-35X3/8 that will connect the filter to the pump. Place a AN818-6D Nut and AN819-6D Sleeve on each end of the fuel line then flare the ends. Connect the fuel line to both the filter and pump (check that the filter flow direction arrow is pointing from the fuel valve and towards the pump). See Figure 2.
