Vertical Stabilizer

Dimpling the Skin. One note of caution large plans sent with kit are for RV-7,8,9 and we were looking at holes for dimpling and the large plans are incorrect for the tail, use the book they sent

Still using hot soldering iron to cut blue protective color from skin where rivets go. Don't know why other than it looks cool as it will all be scratched up later with 3-M to paint. Marked holes for tail fairing not to rivet again make such you are using the drawings from the book not the big plans as they are sent with the kit but are for the 7,8,9.

Again a neat trick Bill Letcher who is helping me taught me. Use the hand squeezers mounted in a  vise and just slide the piece along and dimple as it held in place for you , works great and saves a lot of time.

Getting ready to prime. After all my effort to alodine the RV-7 I decided it was just to much work and I have had excellent results using PPG DP-40 a epoxy primer and just scratching the metal and cleaning it and priming. I live in a very dry climate, and plan to keep it hangered all the time, as someone pointed out it, the plane probably will be around longer than you are.

Parts scotch brighted, cleaned with was and grease remover, ready to prime

Parts primed and will start riveting

Squeezing rivets on spar skeleton

No holes yoke come in handy many times, well worth the investment
